Conclusion

Where am I now?

I have learned a lot during my time spent in the program trying to soak up as much information as possible, figuring out what goes into being a good physical therapist.

There were a lot of difficulties faced along the way. When I first began in the program, I felt overwhelmed. Learning anatomy and physiology over Zoom because of a pandemic was not how I envisioned my physical therapy experience. Learning about manual muscle tests while separated into pods of 4-6 classmates with masks on did not seem like it would help me develop the skills I needed.
It was hard to envision the end goal with so many bumps in the road, but with more practice, and more experience with actual patients, I felt my confidence in my abilities grow. In my clinical experiences, not only did I see the practical application of the skills I learned, but I started developing my goals for the future.

I've learned that there is so much more that goes into being a great physical therapist than just having an understanding of how to treat patients. Being a great physical therapist involves fulfilling a commitment to improving the lives of those in need, and leaving an overwhelmingly positive impact on my community as a leader in healthcare.

That is exactly what I intend to do.

I recognize that I have only started scratching the surface, and I still have a lifetime of learning ahead of me, but I have my direction now. There is no telling where this experience will take me in life, but I believe physical therapy will offer me the right platform to make the meaningful, positive change in others' lives and leaving a lasting impression on a healthier, happier community.
